No Hindi for the Sikh’s

Sikh’s are a sue generis sovereign nation whose language, culture and religion are totally different from any other religion or culture amongst peoples. Guru Nanak the founder of the Sikh religion categorically spelt this out in his first sermon- the Sikh’s are neither Hindu’s nor Muslim’s. Sikhism’s II Guru Angad Sahib expanded this term by founding the Gurmukhi script for the Sikh religion and nation that the first Guru had created. Then on, the Guru’s till the X Guru Gobind Singh continued to build on the sermon of Guru Nanak, giving the Sikh religion and nation their separate and distinct identity, like demolishing the caste system with III Guru Amar Dass Sahib building the Bhoali- a deep well was dug at Khadoor Sahib to which steps were laid down leading to where there was a perennial spring which formed a pool. Into this pool the Sikh sangat (congregation) bathed thus binding the Sikh’s into one religion and nation. Otherwise, before the abolition of the caste system by Guru Nanak, the two top most castes Brahmin’s and Kashatriya’s did not bathe or eat together communally.

IV Guru Ram Das Sahib built the pool of nectar at Amritsar and founded this very city for the Sikh’s which became their Vatican and Mecca.

V Guru Arjun Sahib built the Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar and compiled the holy scripture of the Sikh’s – Guru Granth Sahib.

VI Guru Har Gobind Sahib built the Akal Takhat adjacent to the Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar and thus gave the Sikh’s the concept of an imperium in imperio which translated from Latin would mean a state within a state. Since then the Sikh’s have always considered themselves to be sue generis sovereign people.

This concept has from the time of I Guru Nanak brought the Sikh’s into direct confrontation with the state, to begin with the Moghal’s, followed by the Afghan’s, then the British and now presently the Hindu state.

A few days ago a sort of Uncle Tom journalist Mr. Kanwar Sandhu writing in The Tribune 16th June 2014 advised the Sikh’s to do away with the institution of the Akal  Takhat as it clashed with the concept of the present Hindu state. Like Mr. Sandhu there are other Uncle Tom like Sikh characters like Mr. Parkash Singh Badal, Captain Amrinder Singh, Partap Singh Bajwa, Mr. Manmohan Singh, Ms. Rajinmder Kaur Bhattal who share the same views as Mr. Kanwar Sandhu who are eager to win the approval of the Hindu’s, cooperate with them and be faithful and happily submissive servants of the Hindu state. Such Uncle Tom’s of the Sikh’s are seen as slavish and excessively subservient to perceived authority figures and have become participants in the oppression of their own people.

Just the other day (6th June 2014)when the Sikh’s observed the 30th anniversary of Operation Bluestar an unprecedented 1,00000 Sikh’s gathered at the Akal Takhat in the Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar complex. As per the temporal authority of the Akal Takhat the entire collected Sikh congregation, in one voice raised the demand for an independent and sovereign Sikh state as we have written in our website on 16th June 2014.

The Sikh leadership being subservient to the Hindu state took great umbrage stating that such political voices should not be raised at the Akal Takhat. But as we have said earlier all politico- religious issues are raised at this Akal Takhat as per history and tradition.

Whenever, the control Akal Takhat and the Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) fall into the hands of an alien regime as spelt out above, the Sikh’s have always made efforts to uproot and restore the imperiom in imperio status of this sacred and national institution. All Morcha’s or struggles to regain the politico supremacy (sue generis sovereign status of the Sikh nation) have begun from the Akal Takhat. The Punjabi Sooba Morcha, the Kapoori Morcha and the Dharam Yudh Morcha, all of recent times began from this temporal seat of the Sikh’s.

It is not only the Sikh’s who have their Uncle Tom’s but in World War II the French had their Vichy Regime under Marshal Petain, the Norwegian’s had their Quisling and the Jews their Judenrats.

VII Guru Har Rai Sahib kept up the martial tradition of VI Guru Har Gobind Sahib. But when he saw his son Baba Ram Rai distort the Sikh scriptures to please Emperor Aurangzeb at the imperial court in Delhi VII Guru excommunicated his very son Baba Ram Rai from the Sikh religious and national fold.

VIII Guru Har Karishan Sahib did not shepherd his pontification for long and passed away at a young age but within those few years he cemented the doctrine of compassion and what we call humanitarian services this day, they being medicine and better health.

IX Guru Tegh Bhadar Sahib was a warrior in the tradition of Guru Har Gobind Sahib who gave the concept of Miri Piri. IX Guru eventually stood up for the concept of the maintenance of human rights, defied the Moghal state that trespassed on the rights of the persecuted non Islamic religions and eventually paid a heavy price for his defiance of the state, Emperor Aurangzeb having him executed at Delhi.

X Guru Gobind Singh gave the physical form to the Sikh religion and nationality by founding the order of the Khalsa. He like his forebears IV and IX Guru’s took up arms against the brutality of the Moghal state. He advocated full sovereignty to the Sikh peoples stating- I will bestow sovereign power on these indigent Sikh’s. His four son’s were martyred in the attempt to make the Sikh nation sovereign. Thereon the lesson and history of the Sikh’s observes- sans sovereignty, religion is non-functional.

In brief this is the summary of the Sikh religion and nationality as known to me through my learning from my parents, religious- historic interpreters and my formal study of Sikh history.

In our party we would think that the present right wing Hindu regime at the Union led by Mr. Narinder Modi in Delhi would be committing a mistake and a blunder in trusting the Sikh Uncle Tom’s to foist the Hindu religion, culture and language (Hindi in Devnagri script) on the Sikh peoples.

In Iraq lately ever since Mr. Nouri al-Maliki a Shia was handed power by the American’s and the British, he systematically began isolating and discriminating against the minority Sunni’s. Now he and the world have a crisis on their hands and Mr. Narinder Modi, Mr. Rajnath Singh his Home Minister and the RSS Chief Mr. Mohan Bhagwat must learn never to take the Sikh’s for granted for they fight viciously against religious and political bigotry. Therefore, to foist the Hindu language or its religion would be perilous for the new political and ultra religious Hindu dispensation in Delhi.
